The Long Way ‘Round: May 26

May 27, 2025 by Jordan Husband

Celebrating 18 years of marriage!

We all know that ‘time flies,’ but this past season really lived up to the old adage! It seems like only weeks have passed since the school year began, yet we find ourselves past graduation once more and thanking God for another year of His faithfulness. Before summer hit, we hit a couple noteworthy ministry milestones which encourage us to see done well – rolling out new @ethnos.mx email accounts for our coworkers, and wrapping up biannual field-wide child safety refresher training. Amy also finished her ESL work well with a pair of Lily’s classmates, and we enjoyed seeing the early impact of her work on their lives!

We’re so proud of our kids, and their hard work this past year!

Elayne got to portray Susan Pevensie in the school production of “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” and finished out a challenging academic year well. Titus missed the first quarter of the school year for health reasons, but graduated from junior high while winning an award for scholastic achievement. Joel also faced down pain issues throughout the year, but kept working hard on reading – and was rewarded with a jump back up to his natural grade level at year’s end! And Lily took hard-won ground with her writing skills, enjoying deepening relationships with classmates and brightening the lives of those around her. As for Amy and I, we just celebrated 18 years of marriage and vast improvement in her resurgent mono symptoms.

Our trip to-date:

Our summer travels have only just begun! With Chihuahua in the rear-view mirror for now, we have been taking care of a few early-trip logistics in El Paso, TX. Up next for our family are stops in Tulsa, OK and Branson, MO! We will keep you all posted with updates every week or two so you can follow along with us on our summer journeys. Thank you for praying with us for safety on the road, sweet time of fellowship with friends long missed, growth in our team of ministry partners, and some great family memories to carry with us through the years. We’re excited to see what God has in store this summer!

Please pray as well for our Nahuatl brother, Efraín. He is back with family this summer after a year at Bible school, and looks forward to sharing Christ with them during their time together.
