Safety Concerns

October 29, 2007 by

This time of year is hard for many people in Mexico.  The nights get extremely cold (well below freezing) and many people are homeless, or living in homes that don’t protect them from the cold.  In addition, Christmas is on its way, and many people are stressed out about where they will get the money to pay for gifts for their children.  These circumstances create need.

In addition, many people know that a lot of money can be made this time of year because people are frantically spending money on all kinds of gifts.  Some of those people also know that the perfect Christmas gifts are the used items in people’s houses, and that if they could get their hands on those items they could sell them for a lot of money.  Other people know a lot of ways to break into a vehicle and take off with it.  Worst of all, some people are all too aware of how much money they can fetch in ransom money when they kidnap someone.  These circumstances create nasty greed.

Need and greed are problems that Mexico faces every year during this season, and crime rates go way up.  Vehicles are stolen, houses are broken into, and sometimes people (usually men) are kidnapped.  Please pray that God would protect us during this time.  Pray for our house, our vehicle, our safety, and most of all please pray for the safety of our precious children.

Perhaps someone who reads this would be willing to put a sticky note on his/her mirror for the next two months, and just pray for us whenever he/she brushes teeth (seriously, what else are you gonna do during the two minutes it takes to brush and floss?).  If you would be willing to do that, would you mind clicking the contact button (top of page) and just letting us know that you are praying specifically about this request when you brush your teeth?  It would be such a tremendous blessing to know that someone is remembering this in prayer.  Thank you!
