We are expecting! That is the old news. The unexpected news is that we may have the baby tonight. Here is the story:
We have now been back in the States for over a month. In that time we have spent quite a bit of time on the road seeing friends, family, supporters, and churches. We had the opportunity to share what God is doing among the Patpatar on 8 different occasions in 6 different states. Though living out of a suitcase is not always easy we thank all of you who welcomed us into your homes and spoiled our family with love and hospitality.
With only a week and half left of our summer travels, we received an unexpected call that my grandfather, Roy Dixon, had gone home to be with the Lord. His passing away was expected, but how quickly it went was unexpected . Through a friend we were able to secure plane tickets to return to Sioux City for the funeral…we thought.
While in Sioux City on Wednesday, Lori went into the doctor’s office for a routine visit. She was nearly 32 weeks along. That is when it
all began. Unbeknown to us the Amniotic fluid was beginning to reach a critically low level and the baby was beginning to struggle. Later
that day Lori was admitted to the hospital and the deceling heart rate of the baby was closely monitored in case emergency action needed
taken. It is now Friday and Lori has been on complete bed rest for a day and a half. Both her and the baby are doing okay, but levels are
still low and the risks of leaving the baby in is starting to outweigh the risks of delivering the baby.
So while my grandfather is being laid to rest, I am only an hour away from him in a hospital waiting for his great grandchild to arrive. We
know God is in control and are amazed at the way He has orchestrated all of these events. It is not what we were expecting or would have chosen, but we are resting in the God of the unexpected.
Meanwhile in Patpatar, the two churches have begun their study in the book of Acts. We are waiting on a report to see how the new believers grow in their understanding of what the church is and how God used the body of believers in the book of Acts.
We will keep you up-to-date as we get more information.
