Resurrection Sunday…it’s nearly here! And it has huge significance for a small group in a hamlet a few miles from our village.
For the last several months, nearly once a week, I have been able to walk down early on a Saturday or Sunday morning and join two of the Patpatar Christian families from our church who have been teaching a small group of people through God’s Word. I love the opportunity to help teach on occasion, but it has been even more exciting to watch them take on this role with their relatives and friends.
Sometimes a teaching session will go for hours as we sit there on aging pieces of timber underneath some corrugated tin held up by bamboo. Their questions, comments, and conversations highlight the new truths they are learning about God, man’s need of a Savior, and the promise of a Messiah. They have been working their way from Genesis through the old Testament and into the Gospels. For the past several weeks they have been learning more about the life of the Son of God that was sent to make a way for us to be reconciled to God. It just so happens that this Sunday they will be hearing about the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
So please, as you celebrate what Christ has done for us on the weekend, join with us in prayer to for this new group who will be hearing that Good News. Pray for those who will be teaching and pray for those that will be hearing to accept the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
Also, be sure to check out the “Fact” in this update if you want to find out more quickly how it went on Sunday.

Fact – We are thousands of miles away and years behind, but we are trying to progress in the area of technology and communication. I guess there has been something invented called FaceBook and Twitter. We don’t know too much about it and how it all works and our internet ability here in the village is highly limited, but we are going to try it. I don’t have any fancy links or anything yet, but those of you who use it will probably know what to do. Lori just got a FaceBook account, if you want to do one of those Friend Request things. I just got a Twitter account so if you want to get occasional quick updates…Follower??…look my name up @AaLuse.
