{"id":163,"date":"2010-02-21T08:49:20","date_gmt":"2010-02-20T22:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-luse\/?p=163"},"modified":"2011-02-19T09:02:12","modified_gmt":"2011-02-18T23:02:12","slug":"i-dont-want-to-be-a-part","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-luse\/2010\/02\/21\/i-dont-want-to-be-a-part\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;I don&#8217;t want to be a part&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><em>Avalon sandwiched between two twin girls.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Here at our place the kids play and feel secure.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to say a thank you to God.\u201d\u00a0 One of the Patpatar Christians told me as we sat in the hut and the darkness of night began to hide our faces.\u00a0 He continued, \u201cIf I hadn\u2019t heard the foundation (the teaching of God\u2019s Word from the beginning) and if the true good news wasn\u2019t clear to me, I would have gone inside this fight that is happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier we had been talking about the on-going mini-war between two of the clans in the village.\u00a0 On New Year\u2019s Day three men were badly cut up and injured when machetes were used to try to settle a dispute.\u00a0 Contrary to being settled, it has only reignited the old feelings of animosity and revenge.\u00a0 Last week the revenge was taken out on an unsuspecting woman who was cut up with a machete and left bleeding on the road simply because she was a member of the other clan.\u00a0 Now women are afraid to go to the garden and kids are afraid to walk alone on the road.\u00a0 Then when a leader in the village, the man\u2019s brother to whom I was talking, tried to intervene, he was threatened and chased away with machetes.<\/p>\n<p>The young believer and I continued to talk.\u00a0 He explained, \u201cWhen they made the action to cut my brother, that is when I would have got my machete and gone inside this fight.\u00a0 But now I don\u2019t want to be a part.\u00a0 They answer with machetes and fights and killing, but it is not the real answer.\u00a0 They are being deceived and don\u2019t know the real source of these wars.\u00a0 They have become like Saul, who went to kill and arrest people thinking he was doing God\u2019s work, but they don\u2019t know they are doing Satan\u2019s work instead.\u00a0 It is good if the leaders and government will help this fight to stop, but the only real answer is that they know the truth inside the talk of God.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As this man who has been changed by the power of God walked away and disappeared into the darkness I rejoiced in what God had done.\u00a0 To not do what the clan expects, to not react the way that tradition demands, is a big step.\u00a0 I pray the testimony will speak loudly as well.\u00a0 I pray that this believer and others will be able to have the opportunity to share the \u201creal answer.\u201d\u00a0 I pray also for all those being affected and living in fear because of this on-going fight.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks for rejoicing with me and joining me in these prayers.<\/p>\n<p>Aaron<\/p>\n<p>Aaron, Lori, Avalon, Sierra, and Kylee Luse<\/p>\n<p>Missionaries with New Tribes Mission<\/p>\n<p>In the Patpatar tribe in Papua New Guinea<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Avalon sandwiched between two twin girls.
