{"id":238,"date":"2010-12-05T06:37:37","date_gmt":"2010-12-04T20:37:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-luse\/?p=238"},"modified":"2011-02-20T07:31:11","modified_gmt":"2011-02-19T21:31:11","slug":"literacy-graduation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-luse\/2010\/12\/05\/literacy-graduation\/","title":{"rendered":"Literacy Graduation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #666699\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-luse\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/204\/files\/blog-pics\/img_3207.jpg\" alt=\"img_3207\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #666699\"><em>The literacy students with their certificates.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Kolmau\u2019s speech was similar to Anna\u2019s.\u00a0 He stood before the crowd with a book and a microphone in his hand.\u00a0 It was the day of the literacy graduation and for the first time in his life he was one of the students.\u00a0 Speaking into the microphone he admitted that he almost didn\u2019t come to be a part of the literacy school.\u00a0 Fear of embarrassment because of the fact he couldn\u2019t read or write was ironically what concerned him.\u00a0 With his wife and three young children looking on he said that now after four months, he knew how to read and write and wanted to show everybody that he could.\u00a0 Then opening one of the primer books, <!--more-->he began to read the story of the young boy who with the help of his friends overcame his fear of going to school.<\/p>\n<p>We had the privilege to see the literacy program to its completion of the first graduating class.\u00a0 Of the 15 students, 14 of them reached a level of reading necessary to graduate.\u00a0 We were also thrilled to have 8 of them become trained and equipped to teach future classes.<\/p>\n<p>But why a literacy class?\u00a0 Why the weeks and months of preparation and development of materials?\u00a0 Why the hours of repetitious teaching and extra tutoring?\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Yes, it does help families to have a father and a mother who are literate and can help their children.\u00a0 Yes, it does help the community to further education in a developing country.\u00a0 But most of all, the literacy program enables them to be able to read God\u2019s Word and opens the door for them to understand the truth.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you so much for your support through these last months to that this could happen.\u00a0 Thank you to those of you who gave money for building materials, or who gave paper, pencils, erasers, and many other supplies for the help of the literacy school.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Writing<\/span> this so you can <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">read<\/span> it,<\/p>\n<p>Aaron and Lori<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-luse\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/204\/files\/blog-pics\/img_3176.jpg\" alt=\"img_3176\" width=\"100\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399\"><em>One small story for the audience one big story for Kolmau.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The literacy students with their certificates.
