{"id":297,"date":"2011-04-16T22:40:43","date_gmt":"2011-04-16T12:40:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-luse\/?p=297"},"modified":"2011-10-10T22:46:32","modified_gmt":"2011-10-10T12:46:32","slug":"hungry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-luse\/2011\/04\/16\/hungry\/","title":{"rendered":"Hungry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In our first days back in Patpatar this last March I had a lot of questions.\u00a0 What happened while we were gone?\u00a0 How are our brothers and sisters doing here?\u00a0 What is going to happen this time back?<\/p>\n<p>There is a certain believer here that always seems to amaze me.\u00a0 I actually find him quite mysterious.\u00a0 He is very tentative to talk or open up to us, and he doesn\u2019t seem to associate with us much when we are out in the village.\u00a0 In our first days back, I would watch him as he would walk past our house.\u00a0 Paul would look up at our house, but would then quickly look away again.\u00a0 Then he didn\u2019t show up to the believer\u2019s meeting our first week back. Was he feeling uncomfortable walking past our houses?\u00a0 What was going on with him?<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>There is another believer, one that is dear to our hearts.\u00a0 His name is Andrew, and he was Aaron\u2019s first ever language helper.\u00a0 He has helped us learn many things about the language and culture of the Patpatar people.\u00a0 Our eldest daughters love to be together, though that is rare anymore, and our families love each other.\u00a0 Aaron has made countless attempts to visit with him, but we just haven\u2019t been able to connect with our dear friend.\u00a0 You see, he is very involved in many things here.\u00a0 He hasn\u2019t shown up to any of the Bible teaching since we\u2019ve been back.<\/p>\n<p>I have had a certain prayer that I have been praying for the Patpatar people here since I\u2019ve been back.\u00a0 Lord, please make them HUNGRY for your Word.\u00a0 Give them a hunger!<\/p>\n<p>Paul showed up to the second meeting.\u00a0 He anxiously waited for it to start.\u00a0 This last Thursday, he was the first one headed to the meeting, ready to \u201cbe fed\u201d from God\u2019s Word. He\u2019s had conversations with Aaron that are filled with questions and thoughts.\u00a0 Paul is hungry.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew has still not shown up.\u00a0 He has had many family things come up\u2026.death, a child with a broken arm, a small baby of his that has malaria for the second time this month, work to do for his position in the community.\u00a0 Is he hungry?\u00a0 I pray so.<\/p>\n<p>We are still waiting on an answer from a nearby village to see if they are going to want to hear the evangelistic teaching, and if they want literacy classes held in the new community building.\u00a0 The meeting we asked you to pray about in the last NGN was postponed and won\u2019t take place until the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>Please pray that we as missionaries will continue to hunger to know God, and that the Patpatar would have a hunger for His Word, too.<\/p>\n<p>Lori<\/p>\n<p>Fact: \u201cI could eat a horse!\u201d\u00a0 When we hear that phrase we don\u2019t take it too literally, but we understand that whoever said it is very hungry.\u00a0 Well in Patpatar they have no horses, but there is a similar phrase to indicate their hunger, \u201cI am looking for a monitor lizard!\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In our first days back in Patpatar this last March I had a lot of questions.\u00a0 What happened while we were gone?\u00a0 How are our brothers and sisters doing here?\u00a0 What is going to happen this time back?
