As I walked in the rain down the dirt road holding Briella and an umbrella, I sensed someone behind me on the road. I turned to see who it was, and it was one of the ladies that comes to the Bible teaching. I decided to wait for her, and I was so glad afterward that I did.

Aaron had left the village ahead of me to head hoMy good friend came up and was anxious to talk to me. This friend has been through much this last year, and it has been a joy to talk with her and find out what God is doing in her life. We had just ended studying the book of Romans, and I was encouraging her to come to the next series to help her study the Bible. She told me she was excited to come to the teaching and to continue learning. She said, “Lori, I used to be so fearful about what I was doing and what I wasn’t doing to please God. Everyone would tell me what they thought I should do and it was a heavy burden for me. I now understand that I don’t have to be afraid of God. He provided a way for me. He sent His Son and through His death, and being buried and coming alive again I am saved from my sin and my wrong. My belief is in Him and He has done it all for me. Now my burden is light. My burden is light!!”

If only you could have been there with me to see the joy on my friend’s face. She is so hungry to continue to study God’s Word and so joyful about all that He has done for her. Her thinking has changed as she has heard God’s Word and allowed Him to work in her life.

We have continued in these last few weeks to “catch up” so to speak on what has gone on while we were back with you, our family and friends. There have been some disappointments, some joyful times, and some realization of how God is leading us to serve here. Discipleship is so important here. We need prayer that we will be sensitive to what God is telling us to do, and then have the strength and willingness to carry through and do it. It is hard at times to know how to go about things in this different place and culture. At other times it is hard to carry it out because it feels and seems so foreign and uncomfortable to us.

I also wanted to let you know that we have just received word that our coworker, Madonna has been given the all clear by the doctor to come back and work with us again. We are praising the Lord for that! Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for standing with us and behind us. We couldn’t be here without YOU!

Lori

Fact 1 – The last update had a picture of the girls holding a papaya and a cucumber.

Fact 2 – This Sunday is Avalon’s birthday! She will be 13!

Fact 3 – If you need help finding which parts of a tool (including good kitchen knives) are not made of stainless steal, just bring them over to our beautiful tropical climate. The rust and corrosion will appear before your eyes.

Aaron had left the village ahead of me to head home with the 3 older girls.
