Crazy Days

July 24, 2021 by Aaron and Stacy Jex

Crazy Days

So much for our plans… We ended up bringing the whole family back! Kiera had been seeing the doctor in PNG about her wrist, and after many appointments over the last 6 months, he recommended an orthopedist. So, kinda last minute, we booked tickets for Stacy and the girls to join Kobe and I!

It’s been HECTIC! By the numbers:

  • Hurried packing and preparation for 5 travelers
  • Tickets bumped 3 times
  • 3 covid tests to leave the country, eventually down to 1
  • 125 hours of total travel time (with 72 hours in the capital city)
  • 32 hours of actual flight time
  • Testing negative with 10 minutes to spare
  • In Singapore, led in 1 single-file line like in kindergarten
  • Our last 45-minute flight took a 5-hour detour
  • Arriving finally at 3am
  • Vaccine shot number 1
  • 14 1/2 hour day getting Kiera to the doctor and MRI
  • Trip to Ohio to get our donated car – a 2004 Honda Pilot
  • Church visit #1 – Patterson Park Church in Beavercreek, Ohio
  • Family vaca for 6 days up north in Michigan
  • Church visit #2 – Trinity Fellowship in Big Rapids, Michigan
  • 2-day trip out to Maine – surprising Stacy’s family!
  • Vaccine shot number 2
  • Church visit #3 – Eliot Baptist Church in Eliot, Maine
  • 3 trips to the campground with grandparents
  • Supply buying for another 2 years in PNG
  • Buying 3 tickets back to PNG for Stacy and the girls (Aaron to stay for another 45 days to get Kobe settled at Bible School)
  • Visiting with family in Maine for 15 days
  • 3 more covid tests
  • Last-minute packing and weighing 6 checked bags
  • Hassled at the airport – no transit through Singapore? Answered prayer to get on the first 12 1/2 hour flight
  • Church visit #4 – First Baptist Church in North Berwick, Maine
  • Keeping up with the Business Office in PNG – 1,044 emails read or responded to, with 39 to go (with lots of help from my team in PNG!)
  • Buying 1 ticket for Aaron to return to PNG late August
  • 1 great visit in Kittery Point, Maine

And more to come…

  • 954 mile trip to Michigan
  • Trip to Patterson Park Church (will be at services on 1-Aug)
  • 4 hours back to Michigan
  • 377 miles to Wisconsin
  • 7 days to teach Kobe how to drive
  • Get Kobe’s 1st driver’s license
  • Get Kobe’s 1st bank account
  • Get Kobe’s 1st job
  • Move Kobe into Bible School on the 20th of August
  • 6 hour trip to Michigan
  • 1 more final covid test
  • 5 flights back to PNG!

We wish we had more than 24 hours a day to visit with all of you!
Thank you all for your prayers and support!
