{"id":510,"date":"2017-11-22T00:14:33","date_gmt":"2017-11-22T05:14:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-stacy-jex\/?p=510"},"modified":"2017-11-22T00:17:35","modified_gmt":"2017-11-22T05:17:35","slug":"kobe-is-ok-and-other-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-stacy-jex\/2017\/11\/22\/kobe-is-ok-and-other-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Kobe is OK &#8211; and other news"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>Kobe Medevaced!\u00a0 (Medical Evacuation)<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>What a crazy last few weeks!<\/p>\n<p>First, I (Aaron) had to fly to Australia to get rid of my sinus headaches I\u00a0had for 5 weeks.\u00a0 That turned into sinus surgery!\u00a0 I was down there for 5 weeks.\u00a0 Stacy was able to come down for the surgery &#8211;\u00a0while others took care of the kids back in PNG.<\/p>\n<p>Then, I found out \u2013 while still in Australia recovering \u2013 that my Finance Manager in PNG was leaving due to a family health crisis.\u00a0 That meant that we were in crisis in the Business Office, too!\u00a0 I just wrote last time that the Business Office was going smoothly.\u00a0 Crisis modes are not conducive to supporting the tribal works in the bush!<\/p>\n<p>Finally, a week ago,\u00a0Monday,\u00a0I could finally come home to Papua New Guinea!<\/p>\n<p>Still healing up from the surgery, I took part in Spiritual Emphasis Weekend (SEW) that the school (along with a\u00a0team of 9 from Hume Lake in California) puts on for the students.\u00a0 It was a great 4-day weekend and many lives were changed!\u00a0 See my Facebook for pics.<\/p>\n<p>A weekend of very\u00a0little sleep combined with still recovering from surgery along with a stomach bug made me pretty sick by Tuesday morning.\u00a0 Even though I was sick, Stacy asked for my help to get Kobe up out of bed.\u00a0 Again.\u00a0 He frequently complains of &#8220;stomach pains.&#8221;\u00a0 Ha!\u00a0 What a kid would do to get out of school!\u00a0 Only, this time, I could tell something was different.\u00a0 He asked for me to get\u00a0his tissue box on the shelf above his bed.\u00a0 All he had to do was sit up and reach for it!\u00a0 That&#8217;s what clued me in that something was wrong.\u00a0 I asked him how the pain was.\u00a0 &#8220;Sharp&#8221;.\u00a0 Where?\u00a0 &#8220;Right here&#8221; as he pointed to his lower right abdomen.\u00a0 I called the clinic and by 2pm he was medevaced to Australia for appendicitis.\u00a0 By 10:00 that night he was in surgery.\u00a0 The doc says it was long and twisted and kinked &#8211; and caused an abscess as well.\u00a0 He said it had been going on a while.\u00a0 Huh&#8230;\u00a0 All this time complaining of stomach pains?\u00a0 Maybe there was something to that??<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-513\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-stacy-jex\/files\/2017\/11\/Kobe-medevaced-600x693.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"693\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-stacy-jex\/files\/2017\/11\/Kobe-medevaced-600x693.png 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-stacy-jex\/files\/2017\/11\/Kobe-medevaced-260x300.png 260w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-stacy-jex\/files\/2017\/11\/Kobe-medevaced-768x887.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-stacy-jex\/files\/2017\/11\/Kobe-medevaced-95x110.png 95w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-stacy-jex\/files\/2017\/11\/Kobe-medevaced-216x250.png 216w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-stacy-jex\/files\/2017\/11\/Kobe-medevaced-219x253.png 219w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/aaron-stacy-jex\/files\/2017\/11\/Kobe-medevaced.png 798w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We are so grateful for the team that pulled this off!\u00a0 We are thankful that we have our mission doctors that can fly down on our mission planes that can enter Australia on emergency medical visas because of our administrative staff.\u00a0 So thankful on this Thanksgiving week!<\/p>\n<p>Stacy and Kobe are doing fine in Australia.\u00a0 They might actually be able to come home this week!\u00a0 We have a Thanksgiving celebration planned for Saturday (as Thursday is not a holiday in PNG, so we Americans normally celebrate on Saturday).\u00a0 So, hoping they can be home for that.\u00a0 We were planning on hosting the celebration with 3 other families&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kaili is at the Junior High version of SEW, Kiera is being homeschooled by Nisae Williamson, and I am still sick in bed &#8211; when I&#8217;m not in the bathroom.<\/p>\n<p>God has a way of making you let go of everything\u00a0you are holding onto so that you can cling to Him instead.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you all for your prayers!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kobe Medevaced!\u00a0 (Medical Evacuation) What a crazy last few weeks!
