Tuesday June 19 we moved to Goroka. You can see where we have moved to.
We packed most of our belongings and shipped it on our mission airplane up to Goroka.
Some differences from our location at the Islands Region supply center to Goroka:
- The supply center is located 10 feet above sea level. Goroka is 5000 feet above sea level
- Islands support center average temperature during the day they say is 92 F. I am not sure I agree as we have seen it hang in there much higher. Also the humidity level is at least 80%. Goroka has a much more moderate spring like climate; even though it can get hot during the day. The evenings, nights, and morning are usually very cool.
- Our support center has had up to 20 families and singles on it. Gorokas’ support center has nearly 70 families and single units.
- The Islands region people in general are less prone to violence. The Highlanders are much more prone to violence.
We so appreciate the coworkers in the Islands Region that we have had the privilege to work with. So many have come and gone over the years but it has been such a blessing to rub shoulders with such giants of the faith.
Aaron will be working in the business office at the PNG home office. Erika will be looking at helping out in some of the office areas after we get settled in. Aaron will also be continuing on with language consulting as needed in the Islands Region or wherever he might be needed.
Urgent prayer needs:
Learn our ministries quickly and be a blessing to our new co-workers.
Finances for the move – $6000. The cost of travel in PNG is very high.
Rachel attending senior class functions – While Rachel has tried to do some personal fund raising she still needs $1500 that she was not able to earn since we were not at this school this last year.
Praise items:
Safety in the move to Goroka.
A freshly remodeled house to move into.
A great school for all the kids to be involved in.
Good overall health.
