Our good Awa friend seems to be stabilizing as he works to rebuild his marriage after the affair. He’s back living with his wife now for a few months, but things are sometimes rough. This past week it seems like he’s more like the good old friend when he was our coworker, as Elder in the church here. Since we arrived mid-June, he has been somewhat petulant and avoiding us. It’s encouraging to see the change in him, but keep praying for deeper repentance to continue.
Also, we’ve been encouraged to see the church moving to be ready to receive him back into its fellowship. Now that our coworkers Kevin and Kathy are back, we hope that will soon happen. Seeing Milton in mercy received back into the fellowship of the believers will give hope to others in the community as an example of how God can release us from our deserved condemnation. Pray with us for that! None of us deserve God’s mercy!
The affair produced a cute, healthy baby boy that was just born this week as you can see in the photo. The mother is an unmarried sister to our friend’s wife, so you can imagine the disruption to the marriage and family. But God has been working there, and it’s good to see the wife growing spiritually. The wife’s sister is doing well physically, yet her baby will be a source of community shame and ridicule. We have arranged for her to help Chrissy in language study, and she would also like to continue her adult literacy classes so pray that we can use this time with her for spiritual input. We long for her to experience God’s forgiveness and love for her, that would then be extended by her to her new baby.
