Just thought we would give you a quick update on our adoption process. This weekend we visited the first three orphanages (out of 6). It went well. We were able to see how they are run & ask some questions. The biggest help was at the last one we visited. It’s ran by some friends of ours. So we got to talk to them & ask questions that we couldn’t ask at the other ones. Now we have a better understanding of how things are working. We also got to hear some of the childrens’ stories…which were very sad! Anyway, we still have three more to go. Hopefully we’ll visit those this week or next. This is a mandatory part of the process…so we have to go sometime.
We also found out where we are on ‘the list’. #41. A number didn’t mean a whole lot to me so I asked what they thought the waiting time would be before we get referrals…a year, maybe more. So now we at least have an idea. Not that that couldn’t change…but at least that gives us some kind of idea.
Okay, just wanted you to know where we are at & what’s going on these days.
P.S. I would have loved to take some pics of the children in the orphanages, but it would not have been appropriate. So instead I will share a pic of some manatees we saw on the school field trip (Friday morn before we visited the first orphanage).
