{"id":101,"date":"2010-08-03T09:41:00","date_gmt":"2010-08-03T13:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/?p=101"},"modified":"2010-08-03T09:41:00","modified_gmt":"2010-08-03T13:41:00","slug":"to-brazilian-school-or-not","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/2010\/08\/03\/to-brazilian-school-or-not\/","title":{"rendered":"To Brazilian School or Not?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>That is the question.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Right now we are in the middle of trying to decide if we are going (and if it&#8217;s even possible)\u00a0to send our three kids to a Brazilian school for part of the day.\u00a0 Here are the pros &amp; cons lists.<\/p>\n<p>Pros-\u00a0 we will not have to find childcare for our kids while we are in our class (learning Portuguese.); our kids will be exposed to Portuguese for four hours a day, \u00a0five days a week;\u00a0 they will get to play, swim, &amp; learn with other children;\u00a0 we will get to meet more Brazilians; small class sizes; after the 1st month, tuition is free; it&#8217;s a private, christian school; the school day is only 4 hrs. a day<\/p>\n<p>Cons-\u00a0 being surround by Portuguese can be overwhelming;\u00a0 we need to find a dependable ride to &amp; from school for the kids; we will have to buy uniforms for the kids; the 1st month is not free &amp; it&#8217;s expensive!; we still need to do their American school studies<\/p>\n<p>Sooooo, we&#8217;ll see what works out.\u00a0 Probably the biggest factor is finding a ride for the kids.\u00a0 If we can&#8217;t find them a ride, then all the rest does not even matter.<\/p>\n<p>On another note, tomorrow (Aug. 4th) I am heading down to a part of town that I have only visited a couple of times.\u00a0 A friend of mine is going to take me shopping so that I can begin to learn my way around this particular area.\u00a0 It is the area that I will most often frequent when we are living at PQQ.\u00a0 So now is a great chance to go there&#8230;when I don&#8217;t really need anything. \ud83d\ude09\u00a0 And I&#8217;m not in a hurry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0When we live at PQQ, we will most likely only come to town once a month or so.\u00a0 That means our time in town is precious and we won&#8217;t want to waste it.\u00a0 I figured if I learn the area now, I will do better when it&#8217;s time for me to &#8216;seriously&#8217; shop there.\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to take my camera so I can hopefully capture some of the feel of the area&#8230;it&#8217;s a lot different&#8230;open markets with fruit, veggies, fish (they stink soooooooooo bad!) &amp; more.\u00a0 Tomorrow will be a day filled with walking (carefully, so we don&#8217;t step in anything too gross), talking &amp; shopping.\u00a0\u00a0 Hopefully I&#8217;ll have something fun to share with you&#8230;or at least a few good pic&#8217;s.\u00a0\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Him~ Angela<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>That is the question.\u00a0 \u00a0Right now we are in the middle of trying to decide if we are going (and if it&#8217;s even possible)\u00a0to send our three kids to a Brazilian school for part of the day.\u00a0 Here are the pros &amp; cons lists.
