{"id":104,"date":"2010-08-07T14:45:00","date_gmt":"2010-08-07T18:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/?p=104"},"modified":"2010-08-07T14:45:00","modified_gmt":"2010-08-07T18:45:00","slug":"escadaria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/2010\/08\/07\/escadaria\/","title":{"rendered":"Escadaria"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_109\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-109\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-109\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/files\/2010\/08\/DSC001911-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"One small stall.\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2010\/08\/DSC001911-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2010\/08\/DSC001911-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-109\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One small stall.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>So I did it.\u00a0 Today I went shopping in a TOTALLY different area than I am used to.\u00a0 The missionaries from PQQ came out for the monthly order &amp; I met a few of them to spend the day shopping.\u00a0 The PQQ missionaries left at 5:00 a.m.\u00a0 I had to leave my house at 6:30 a.m. to meet them.\u00a0 We all arrived back at PQQ at 6:00 p.m.\u00a0 This made for a VERY LONG, HOT day!<\/p>\n<p>Shopping down in the escadaria was soooooo different.\u00a0 You can not just go to one store to get things&#8230;.you have to find just the right store, and then you need to pray that it will actually have what you want\/need.\u00a0 Not only do have to walk to a MILLION different stores, but things are much more &#8216;third world.&#8217;\u00a0 The streets are dirty, the people are poor (or at least, more so), the stores are not air conditioned, things are dirty&#8230;.well, you get the idea.<\/p>\n<p>All that said, it was a pretty fun day.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know how many times it will take me to learn the area (probably a lot!), but today was a good start.\u00a0 I was able to visit many small stores, the fruits, veggies &amp; fish markets, as well as eat at one of the local restaurants that many of the missionaries like.<\/p>\n<p>(I actually wrote this on Wen.
