{"id":116,"date":"2010-08-16T08:24:39","date_gmt":"2010-08-16T12:24:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/?p=116"},"modified":"2010-08-16T08:24:39","modified_gmt":"2010-08-16T12:24:39","slug":"new-friends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/2010\/08\/16\/new-friends\/","title":{"rendered":"New Friends"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mceTemp\" style=\"text-align: center\">Playing the Wii.<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/files\/2010\/08\/DSC00210.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-114 \" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/files\/2010\/08\/DSC00210-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Playing the Wii\" width=\"299\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_115\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-115\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-115 \" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/files\/2010\/08\/DSC00212.JPG\" alt=\"Summer's new friend.\" width=\"400\" height=\"269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2010\/08\/DSC00212.JPG 400w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2010\/08\/DSC00212-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-115\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Summer&#39;s new friend.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>So we are starting to settle in and make some new friends.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve found that we are pretty interesting to the kids in our neighborhood.\u00a0 Some of them want to talk to us because we are different, some want to talk to us because they can practice the little English they know, some want to be with us because we have fun toys (like a Wii), some have a bad home life, &amp; some just like playing with our kids.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During this last week we have made four new friends that we feel has potential.\u00a0 Douglas, August (This is not the month.\u00a0 His name is said differently, just spelled the same in English.) &amp; one other boy like to come play the Wii with Joel, Ethan &amp; Josiah.\u00a0 Taish (pictured above with\u00a0Summer)\u00a0is a little girl who lives just a couple houses down the road from us.\u00a0 All seem to be VERY respectful &amp; well-behaved.\u00a0 We are praying that we can build relationships with these children &amp; possibly their families as well.\u00a0 It&#8217;s our desire that as we live here among their culture, that we can impact them for Christ.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Please pray:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">Pray with us that we will have wisdom in how best to interact with these children &amp; their families.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">Pray that our Portuguese will continue to improve.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">Pray that we will remain healthy &amp; safe here in Manaus.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">Pray that the hearts of people will be open &amp; ready to know of our Savior&#8217;s love.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\" style=\"text-align: center\">Thank you for your encouragment, support, prayers &amp; love!<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Playing the Wii.
