{"id":202,"date":"2010-10-23T09:28:25","date_gmt":"2010-10-23T13:28:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/?p=202"},"modified":"2010-11-10T00:59:38","modified_gmt":"2010-11-10T04:59:38","slug":"exciting-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/2010\/10\/23\/exciting-times\/","title":{"rendered":"Exciting times!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So what is exciting you ask?\u00a0 A few things, really.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, the river is now at a record low.\u00a0 It&#8217;s lower than it has been (on record)\u00a0in 103 years!\u00a0 Although it&#8217;s kind-of cool to be here &amp; see it, it is also causing problems for a lot of tribal missionaries.\u00a0 The river is how they get to &amp; from town, how their food is delieverd, the way they get to doctors, etc.\u00a0 When the river is this low, it&#8217;s hard for them.\u00a0 Please pray for rain.<\/p>\n<p>Since we are speaking of water, I&#8217;ll move on to the next &#8216;exciting&#8217; thing happening here. \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 For the last three weeks we have had the privilage of losing water at random times.\u00a0 Sometimes we wake up &amp; we have no water.\u00a0 Sometimes we are good in the morn, but by the time we come home from class- no water.\u00a0 Usually it comes back on by 8:30 or 9:00 p.m.\u00a0 It makes for a late night dishing washing session (with LOTS of dishes), but we are thankful that at least it comes back on.<\/p>\n<p>Well, last night it didn&#8217;t come back on till around 11 p.m.\u00a0 Thankfully Joel was awake and was able to &#8216;stock&#8217; up for today (we try to fill buckets, large bowls, etc).\u00a0 He even had the bright idea that he could fill up the washer&#8230;he&#8217;s SO SMART!\u00a0 You see, we get drinking water from a well that is only open at certian times, and the house water is for everything else.\u00a0 Let me tell you, I hate the smell of the bathroom when we can&#8217;t flush!!\u00a0 But today we can.\u00a0 All because my WONDERFUL husband thought of filling up the washing machine last night.<\/p>\n<p>Before we use the washing machine water for the toliet, I decided I would use it first (we might as well get as much use out of it as we can!).\u00a0 I decided I better do all the dishes from yesterday.\u00a0 I used the two large bowls of water that Joel had saved for the washing part, but still needed to rinse the dishes.\u00a0 Who knew the washing machine would work out WONDERFULLY in\u00a0 our kitchen?\u00a0 I thought it just took up too much room.\u00a0 Nope!\u00a0 It turns out that the (clothes) washing machine can also be a dishes rinsing machine. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-204 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/files\/2010\/10\/DSCF3536-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF3536\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2010\/10\/DSCF3536-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2010\/10\/DSCF3536-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-203 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/files\/2010\/10\/DSCF3538-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF3538\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2010\/10\/DSCF3538-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2010\/10\/DSCF3538-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Oh the things we do on the field!!! \ud83d\ude42 Ha!<\/p>\n<p>One last thing&#8230;and this is TRULY EXCITING!\u00a0 I got my\u00a0permanent visa.\u00a0 This means that I don&#8217;t have to worry about doing more paperwork to be able to live here in Brazil.\u00a0 Usually this takes a number of years, but I was able to get it all done in under 2.\u00a0 Whoooooo hoooooo!!!!!!!\u00a0 We are TOTALLY thanking the Lord.\u00a0 We know it is only through Him that this was possible!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-207 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/files\/2010\/10\/DSC00305.JPG\" alt=\"DSC00305\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2010\/10\/DSC00305.JPG 320w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2010\/10\/DSC00305-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I covered the info to be safe since this is on the internet&#8230;but note the PERMANENT status!!! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So what is exciting you ask?\u00a0 A few things, really.
