That&#39;s a CrAzY look (hair is in a ponytail now). But it was for a good cause.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">See that hair?\u00a0 It was kinky.\u00a0 It was wild.\u00a0 <em>I could hardly tame it<\/em>.\u00a0 Granted, being raised by a white mother, in a mostly white town probably didn&#8217;t help.\u00a0 Other than putting it up in a ponytail, I didn&#8217;t know what to do with it for the first 20 or so years.\u00a0 I dreamed of going to a big city and finding someone, <em>anyone!,<\/em> who could help me figure out what to do with the wild mass of stuff on my head that I called hair.\u00a0 I did try a few things&#8230;gels, straighteners (product &amp; the heated, plug-in kind).\u00a0 But the minute it got humid, started to rain or I got it wet&#8230;that was it.\u00a0 It was back to crazy land!<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">So who knew that moving to Brazil to be a missionary would solve my hair issues!?!\u00a0 Not me.\u00a0 I was thinking I would be wearing a ponytail\u00a0(or perhaps a bun once I get old) till the end of my days (amazon jungle= hot &amp; humid!).\u00a0 Not so!\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what my hair looks like now.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">\n<figure id=\"attachment_812\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-812\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/2013\/05\/16\/missionary-perks\/may-hair\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-812\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-812\" title=\"May hair\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-ketcham\/files\/2013\/05\/May-hair-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2013\/05\/May-hair-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/angela-ketcham\/files\/2013\/05\/May-hair.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-812\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My hair is NOT three times the size of my head! Love it!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">Is my hair issues important?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Can I live with wild, kinky hair?\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Do I want to?\u00a0 No. \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 When I think about it, it&#8217;s kind of silly.\u00a0 But at the same time, I am in awe of how much my God loves me.\u00a0 I know a lot of people read way more into things than they should.\u00a0 And I really try not to do that.\u00a0\u00a0But this little issue just makes me thankful.\u00a0 Thankful because it was something I always wanted to take care of.\u00a0 God made a way&#8230;even though it&#8217;s not important.\u00a0 Thankful because I&#8217;ve finally learned what it&#8217;s called in the States.\u00a0 And it&#8217;s CRAZY EXPENSIVE!\u00a0 But I\/we can afford it here.\u00a0 And last, but not least, thankful that even though we (missionaries) give up things,\u00a0God gives is so much more in return&#8230;things like nice hair (at least for me), fresh fruit year round, new friends &amp; experiences and <strong>He grows and stretches us so that we are drawn closer to Him.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">So although it&#8217;s true, missionaries give up lots.\u00a0 It&#8217;s also true that <em><strong>we gain a lot too<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Just thought you should know. \ud83d\ude42<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I was reading a friend&#8217;s Facebook status &amp; the comments written about it.\u00a0 They are joining our mission.\u00a0 The status was about how they came to this decision and what their current plans are.\u00a0 And of course the comments are in response to this news.
