Drying Laundry of course?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Here I sit surrounded by my laundry.  To be sure, &#8217;tis not the season for LAUNDRY today!  I have hung my week&#8217;s laundry on lines above my bed.\u00a0 I have clothes lines across my room as well as on the bed. The sheets and towels, and a week&#8217;s worth of clothes are festooning my room under the fans in hopes that they will dry eventually.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So what <em>IS IT<\/em> the season for?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rainy season still has us firmly in its teeth, and after three months of severe rains, we begin to wonder if we need to build an ark!\u00a0 The South Pacific has experienced a large number of category 5 Cyclones this season, according to the weather maps, from which WE receive copious amounts of rain.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps you saw my January letter and pictures, where we <strong>flooded<\/strong> the office building.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_115\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-115\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-115\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/2010\/04\/10\/tis-the-season\/p1000524\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-115\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/P1000524-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"My office is the green building\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-115\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My office is the green building<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We had 2 to 3 inches of standing water in the office on that afternoon!\u00a0 The poor security dog behind the building was nearly drown as well!<a rel=\"attachment wp-att-116\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/2010\/04\/10\/tis-the-season\/p1000526\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-116\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/P1000526-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"P1000526\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And of course we have recognized a new water sport here in Papua New Guinea.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-117\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-117\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/2010\/04\/10\/tis-the-season\/p1000541\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-117\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/P1000541-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"4-wheeler surfing \" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-117\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">4-wheeler surfing <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>What do you do on the soccer field when it is raining so hard?<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-118\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/2010\/04\/10\/tis-the-season\/p1000540\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-118\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/P1000540-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"P1000540\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Dads sure don&#8217;t want to be left out of the fun!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>SO<\/strong><\/em><strong> what season is it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;Tis the Season for &#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-119\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/2010\/04\/10\/tis-the-season\/100_1053-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-119\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/100_10531-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"100_1053\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/100_10531-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/100_10531.JPG 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>LAWN SURFING, of course<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Long before there were 4 &#8211; wheelers there was Lawn Surfing.\u00a0 Big kids, little kids, even sometimes the adults like to play in the rain here.\u00a0 But the best time is when the standing water brings out the lawn boards.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_109\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-109\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-109\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/2010\/04\/10\/tis-the-season\/100_1075\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-109\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/100_1075-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Big kids, little kids\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/100_1075-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/100_1075.JPG 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-109\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Big kids, little kids<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But if you want to go out and play in the rain, you better not hesitate.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t stop to finish what you were going to do&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>GO right away &#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-112\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/2010\/04\/10\/tis-the-season\/100_1081\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-112\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/barb-kuecken\/files\/2010\/04\/100_1081-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"100_1081\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Once the rain stops, you&#8217;re done!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(This picture was taken an hour later)<\/p>\n<p>So, what are the spiritual applications of all this?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Making the most <\/strong>of the opportunities God provides us with, is VITAL on the mission field.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t know how long the Lord will leave the doors for ministry open here in Papua New Guinea, any more than we know how long the rain will last.\u00a0 Once the doors close, our opportunity is finished.<\/p>\n<p>But the exciting thing here is to see tribal churches reaching out cross-culturally.\u00a0 The Mouk elders have left their home villages and moved into other areas where they have studied the language and are teaching.\u00a0 The first work is among the Lusi and now a new outreach among the Kombe is taking off.<\/p>\n<p>The Ata church is now reaching beyond the Mamusi boarders, their first cross cultural work. They continue to encourage the many churches bordering their traditional lands.<\/p>\n<p>The Maleu elders have traveled around the country encouraging brand new believers in many other language groups.\u00a0 Most recently two of the elders went as far away as the Sepik for a church planting seminar, where they went without sleep in order to encourage the young believers!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Praise the Lord for his abundant blessing which he pours out as heavily as the rain in this country!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Please pray for these churches as they continue to press on carrying the Gospel message across their borders!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Thank you<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here I sit surrounded by my laundry.
