Fun amidst the packing frenzy

May 31, 2009 by Bart and Emily Allen

Titus during the swim-a-thon

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of long days and late nights…buying and packing…and repacking and more buying!  But in the midst of all that we have had some special moments too.

Luke and Titus have both been taking swimming lessons at the YMCA.  Recently the Y had a swim-a-thon to raise money for needy families.  Luke was able to swim 26 lengths of the pool and Titus did 12.  We are very proud of how well they are learning to swim – a good skill to have for living on the coast of PNG!

Another exciting event was that Luke lost his first tooth!!  It had been wiggly for quite a while but when it wiggled enough to be going horizontal, we figured it was time to pull it out!  To celebrate, we took a break from packing and went to play miniature golf.

We have also enjoyed getting to see Grandpa and Grandma Allen who were back from Bangladesh for several weeks.  They’re heading back to Bangladesh and we’re heading for PNG – we’re not sure when we’ll see them next.  A bittersweet part of missionary life!
