Moving to Amdu

May 1, 2013 by Bart and Emily Allen

After so many years of preparing and planning, it’s really happening!  Tomorrow, our family will be moving into a village in the Amdu tribe to begin our ministry among this still unreached group of people!!  Even though it sometimes seems unreal that this actually is happening, the stress and busyness from the preparation reminds us that this is indeed reality.  Our recent days have been filled with buying last minute things needed for finishing our house in the tribe; buying, packing and weighing supplies to stock our pantry for at least 2 months; packing up school books, clothes and other things we use every day and need to take with us; preparing loads for taking our things into Amdu by small mission planes; and finishing up anything we need to do online since we won’t have internet access in the tribe.  You’d think we’d be pros at this packing thing by now, but no matter how many times we do it, it’s always a big job!

The three missionary homes in Amdu

This really is a monumental time for our family.  Getting into a tribe to minister has been in the works in some form or another for about 10 years now.  We have seen the Lord show His faithfulness to us repeatedly and His timing has been perfect even when it was not what we thought it should be!  All praise and glory goes to Him alone for what He has done to bring us to this point and for what He will do in Amdu in the coming years.

Please pray for us as we get settled in our new home and then as we get started soon on learning the tribal language.
