A Cold Start to Our Furlough

March 24, 2014 by Bart and Emily Allen

After a few long days of travel, we are back in America!

Back Home!

We left PNG early on the morning of March 18 and after almost 24 hours of traveling, we arrived in Los Angeles on the afternoon of March 18 – a very long day!!  After getting some sleep, we arrived in Pennsylvania the next day and were greeted at the airport by some of our family and friends from our home church.

The day after we arrived back home, we woke up to freezing temperatures and snow on the ground!  In addition to adjusting to the time difference, we were scrambling to find some warm clothes!  Our boys (two of whom have only seen snow in pictures) were very excited and promptly went outside and made a little snowman.

Please pray for us as we continue to adjust to life in the U.S.  It’s great to be back home and able to see family and friends, but there are adjustments we are facing as well.  In the upcoming 10 months of our furlough, we look forward to visiting our supporting churches and connecting with more friends and family.  We didn’t have internet in the tribe, so now that we are back we will be able to update our blog more often.  Be sure to check back or subscribe for more news.

Thanks for being with us on this journey of taking the Gospel to the Amdu people of Papua New Guinea!
