Exciting days are ahead here in Amdu! A twenty-five minute hike from our main village through the jungle takes us to a clearing with a cluster of houses – a hamlet that is home to several of our believers and many of their extended family members. They have been busy this past week putting up a tent structure for protection from the sun and rain. We have been meeting with the believers for some teacher/helper training. The lessons and props are either ready or in the last stages of development. After much preparation, today February 13 will be the beginning of an outreach – clearly sharing God’s message from Creation to Christ with the members of this hamlet!!
As we have shared before, there is much opposition here to the Truth of God’s Word that we have been teaching. The majority of our community either wouldn’t or didn’t (due to fear or community pressure) come to listen when we initially taught through God’s Word back in 2020. Some in our main village had another opportunity last year to hear the chronological teaching, but again community pressure has kept most of those people from continuing to listen to God’s Word. For the past 2+ years, our small group of Amdu believers have taken frequent opportunities to share what they have learned with their unbelieving family members one-on-one or in small groups. They are very burdened for their family to understand God’s message of salvation. So, for the next approximately 10 weeks, we will be teaching through God’s Word 4 afternoons a week (with times each morning to prepare for that day’s lesson with the teachers/helpers, and to pray together) and the believers will have an opportunity to gain experience in sharing the Good News in a more formal group setting.
Will you please pray with us for this evangelistic outreach?
- For faithful attendance from all in that community
- For the Amdu believers who will be helping Bart with the teaching
- For clear communication and clear understanding
- For stamina for the extra busy weeks ahead
- For the salvation of many!
Thank you very much for praying for the Amdu people, and for us!
