We made it to Papua New Guinea! Our trip, although quite long, went very smoothly and the boys did great! After 6 flights, we are pretty sure we could give the safety demonstration perfectly if we ever needed to. We saw the Lord provide many little blessings along the way. Here are just a few:
– we only had to pay a small amount for our extra luggage (much less than what we expected!)
– we were able to sit all together (or across the aisle from each other) for all of our flights
– on our one overnight flight there was an empty row across from us so both of the boys were able to stretch completely out to sleep
– all of our luggage arrived safely and intact (although somewhere along the way someone “kindly” put a new lock on one of our suitcases). We haven’t gotten it open yet but we’re assuming nothing was taken because it still weighs the same as it did before!
– we were able to rest and relax in the Singapore airport, which happens to be the only one in the world with a swimming pool. It was kind of fun to be in the pool and see a jet taking off just overhead!
We’ve heard from many of you in PA about the bitterly cold days you’ve been having. As you can imagine, it’s just the opposite here. We are getting used to the fact that we will be sweaty pretty much all day. The boys are making new friends and having a great time too. Titus has been enjoying catching these huge toads that hop around under our house. Luke has been exploring and climbing some of the trees in our yard.
As our first full day here ends, the rain is falling on the tin roof and the frogs are making quite a ruckus outside our window. Please keep praying for us as we get settled into this new culture – new smells, new sounds, new food, new friends, new language, new customs, most everything new. But our God never changes and He is here with us!! What a comfort to know that.
Thanks for praying for us!!
