{"id":22,"date":"2007-10-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-10-05T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2007-10-05T08:52:19","modified_gmt":"2007-10-05T12:52:19","slug":"no-more-kuman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/2007\/10\/05\/no-more-kuman\/","title":{"rendered":"No More Kuman!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartImportPhoto--><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/files\/2007\/10\/2324_24498.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-104\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;margin-bottom: 5px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/files\/2007\/10\/2324_24498.jpg\" alt=\"Our linguistics class\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><!--EndImportPhoto--><\/p>\n<p>After 2 weeks long weeks, we turned in our last language problem!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We were analyzing Kuman, a language from the Highlands of PNG.&nbsp; And it sure was taxing on the brain!&nbsp; On top of all that, a flu bug attacked our family and for over a week at least someone in the family was sick.&nbsp;&nbsp; We certainly had to depend on the Lord for strength.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, now that we are done with Kuman, we are moving on to <span class=\"redText\">Cherokee<\/span>!&nbsp; We leave today for Oklahoma where we will <span class=\"redText\">l<\/span><span class=\"redText\">ive for 6 weeks among the Cherokee Indians<\/span>.&nbsp; We will meet daily with a language helper with the goal of building a good relationship and gathering language data that we will then analyze.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One thing that we have so appreciated about our New Tribes training is that we learn something in the classroom and then we are given a chance to put it into practice.&nbsp; We will be trying out the linguistic principles we have learned in a real-life situation.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"blueText\">Please pray for us as we adjust to lots of new things:<\/span>&nbsp; making a home out of a cinderblock wall room, eating meals with 40 other people daily, going to a Cherokee church&#8230;&nbsp; We&#8217;ll let you know how it goes<span class=\"blueText\">.&nbsp; And we&#8217;ll be taking lots of pictures so please check back to see them!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our last practice language problem is done!
