{"id":2784,"date":"2015-04-07T23:33:23","date_gmt":"2015-04-07T13:33:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/?p=2784"},"modified":"2015-04-08T01:18:43","modified_gmt":"2015-04-07T15:18:43","slug":"he-is-worthy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/2015\/04\/07\/he-is-worthy\/","title":{"rendered":"HE is Worthy!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the last few weeks our family has been out in a town along the coast where one of our NTM centers is located.\u00a0 Each year all the missionaries from our area of Papua New Guinea (PNG) get together for an annual conference (as well as standardized testing for our kids).\u00a0 Our theme this year was <strong>&#8220;He is Worthy.&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0 It was a great time of being refreshed and challenged in the task God has given us here in PNG.\u00a0 So many times people view missionaries as super-spiritual, have-it-all-together people.\u00a0 But the truth is that we are all normal, sinful, broken, needy human beings just like everyone else.\u00a0 We just happen to serve the Lord really far away from &#8220;home.&#8221;\u00a0 As we listened to our fellow missionaries share God&#8217;s Word and speak to us about some of the issues that we each face in serving the Lord here, we were re-energized in our focus on the Lord and in being a part of His work among the unreached in PNG.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2789\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2789\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/files\/2015\/04\/IMG_0390.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2789\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/files\/2015\/04\/IMG_0390-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"2015 Conference Theme\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/files\/2015\/04\/IMG_0390-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/files\/2015\/04\/IMG_0390-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2789\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">2015 Conference Theme<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Living in a remote tribe and learning an unwritten language is tough.\u00a0 There are days when we seem to be spinning our wheels and not getting anywhere in our understanding of the Amdu language and culture.\u00a0 We get discouraged, our kids misbehave and we miss our family and friends back home.\u00a0 But this isn&#8217;t primarily about us.\u00a0 We are here for HIM.\u00a0 Our Savior is worthy of all the struggle and pain and someday of all the glory when Amdu people come to know Him and\u00a0 are worshiping around the throne in heaven!!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We weren&#8217;t supposed to still be out in town &#8211; we thought we would go right back to Amdu a few days after our conference!\u00a0 <strong>But a toothache (which required a trip to the capital city and subsequent tooth extraction as well as root canal), a dead computer and a shortage of flights delayed our return!!<\/strong>\u00a0 We are praising the Lord that each of those things has since been resolved and we will be leaving tomorrow to head back into the tribe.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2790\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2790\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/files\/2015\/04\/IMG_0041.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2790 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/files\/2015\/04\/IMG_0041-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"Approaching our airstrip and village \" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/files\/2015\/04\/IMG_0041-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bart-allen\/files\/2015\/04\/IMG_0041-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2790\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Approaching our airstrip and village<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A lot is coming up in the next few weeks.\u00a0 Many of you know that one of the families on our team will not be continuing to work in Amdu due to health issues.\u00a0 Next week the Parry family will be coming into Amdu to pack up their house and say goodbye to the people.\u00a0 They will then be transitioning to a ministry on one of our NTM centers.\u00a0 <strong>Please pray for them, our team and the Amdu people during this difficult transition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following week our language and culture consultants will be coming in to give us another evaluation.\u00a0 Even though we haven&#8217;t been back in language study very long since returning from furlough, it will be helpful to see where we are in our language ability and to get some direction for the months ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Then the first week of May our teammates the Hatton&#8217;s will be leaving for 8 or 9 months of furlough in the US.\u00a0 That means that our family will be the only missionaries in Amdu during that time.\u00a0 While there will undoubtedly be challenges to being alone in the tribe, we are looking forward to the benefits that will come from it as well.\u00a0 <strong>Please pray that we would make significant progress in understanding the Amdu language and culture in the coming months!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you would like to be notified when we update our blog, you can click on the &#8220;Subscribe&#8221;
