Another week has begun for us here in Amdu. Yesterday both Bart and I were out meeting with people in two different hamlets each about 20 minutes’ walk from our main village. Interestingly, some of the people with the strongest appetite for God’s word have been coming faithfully from these two locations each day of the week. We were able to review last week’s lesson material with them and are happy with how they are making connections and holding on to important principles. Last week we worked through Genesis 3:15 and the first mention of the One who will overcome Satan was introduced. During that particular lesson, we role played with our students again, asking them to come up and encourage Adam and Eve who were being represented by our coworkers, Bart and Emily. We wanted the students to think through all that God had said to Adam and Eve and try to remember if there was any good news in all of the punishments that were handed out. One lady stood up quickly and she nailed it. “Don’t be sad. One day God is going to send a man who will overcome Satan,” she said. It was simple and clear. The real significance of this testimony is that this lady is not a mother tongue Amdu speaker. She is from the neighboring people group. She married an Amdu man and knows enough Amdu to track with our teaching. Just today, after we taught the story of Cain and Abel and the only acceptable sacrifice they could bring to God that would be pleasing to Him, this same young mom asked Missy, “Should we be bringing an animal sacrifice to God too?” She is really listening and wrestling with the truths coming out in each chapter of God’s story. Thanks for praying. Keep praying for each of our students to be listening with humility and that they would be quick to apply the story to their own lives.
