{"id":982,"date":"2016-02-05T12:32:49","date_gmt":"2016-02-05T16:32:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/benjamin-hatton\/?p=982"},"modified":"2016-02-05T12:32:49","modified_gmt":"2016-02-05T16:32:49","slug":"practical-help","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/benjamin-hatton\/2016\/02\/05\/practical-help\/","title":{"rendered":"Practical Help"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/benjamin-hatton\/files\/2016\/02\/Package-Initiative.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-983\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/benjamin-hatton\/files\/2016\/02\/Package-Initiative-600x450.png\" alt=\"Package Initiative\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/benjamin-hatton\/files\/2016\/02\/Package-Initiative-600x450.png 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/benjamin-hatton\/files\/2016\/02\/Package-Initiative-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/benjamin-hatton\/files\/2016\/02\/Package-Initiative-147x110.png 147w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/benjamin-hatton\/files\/2016\/02\/Package-Initiative-250x188.png 250w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/benjamin-hatton\/files\/2016\/02\/Package-Initiative.png 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Many of you have asked us how you can help as we make preparations for returning to PNG in March. \u00a0The Amdu Package Initiative is one way you can help. \u00a0<!--more-->There are several means of transporting goods and supplies to PNG. \u00a0We can send them on a ship in a container.\u00a0 Global Ministry Supply 10 is the container that some of our stuff made it on.\u00a0 It will take several months for that container to arrive in port.\u00a0 After that there is no way to estimate how long it will sit in port before it is cleared through customs.\u00a0 It could be days, weeks or months.\u00a0 That is the nature of things in PNG.<\/p>\n<p>We can haul supplies as luggage as we travel to PNG in March.\u00a0 Weight is a limiting factor, however, and we are only allowed to travel with one fifty pound bag per ticket.\u00a0 That is a fair amount of space but not enough for what we are looking to transport.<\/p>\n<p>The postal service is the final option.\u00a0 There is no more room on GMS 10, we have more than we can haul as luggage and so we\u2019re going to have to send ourselves some packages.\u00a0 We estimate that we\u2019ll probably need to send at least ten packages of things that we\u2019ll need sooner than later as we get back into the swing of things in Amdu.\u00a0 The most important items are homeschool books.\u00a0 They are also the heaviest items.\u00a0 We sent what we could to the container but need to carry or mail the rest.\u00a0 Other items include batteries and battery chargers, bulk spices, generator maintenance kits, non-homeschool books and other items we didn\u2019t have purchased before the container deadline.<\/p>\n<p>The International Flat Rate with USPS is about $100 a box.\u00a0 We would like to send at least ten packages in the next two weeks.\u00a0 The Lord has supplied our needs abundantly this furlough, but as we have neared the end of our time in the States we have had to do some heavy spending to get ourselves prepared for the next three years in Amdu.\u00a0 Your help in this practical way will give us the freedom to finish up our preparations. \u00a0If you would like to give towards this need click on the GIVE tab at the top of this page.<\/p>\n<p>Benjamin and Missy<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
