It might sound rather strange to you but for us it is a very real emotion. We are homesick for a place that we have never been. When we graduated from New Tribes Mission Training Institute we prayed about a departure date and set one…then our hearts turned toward the Lord and said…”in your timing Lord, you know best!”
We have been in New York {the state we were both born and raised in} for four months now. We are surrounded by family and friends and yet still feel very much alone. The Lord has not called us to settle here but has called us out of here and to a land that we are not familial with, one that we have never gone, a language we’ve never heard, a people group we have never met. Than why are we drawn there? Because we desire to be obedient to the Lord and He has burdened our hearts for this place…for these people. When we seek Him with all of our hearts, soul and mind He promises to give us the desires of our heart. Our desire is His desire and He wants to see the people groups in Papua New Guinea turn to His Son, Jesus Christ! The Lord ” is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9b
We are encouraged that ” Faithful is He Who is calling you {to Himself} and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it {fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you}. Brethren, pray for us.” 1 Thessalonians 5: 24, 25 {Amplified Bible}
