We realize that we need to update you on our classes… We’ve been learning SOOO much and it has been truly amazing. We are in some pretty heavy classes, so I haven’t really figured out how to explain all that we’ve been experiencing in a blog. So that will come soon! But for now, I’d like to give you a little update on the other part of training…after classes each day!
BJ does his work detail in the tech center. Here, he does random jobs helping get orders sent out to missionaries around the world. Some of these items might be solar panels, systems, fans, etc. It’s really a great opportunity that he gets to help out with. Some days, he gets to help with even more random things: like transporting mattresses across campus for people who are coming to stay the week and serve our campus. BJ always finds fun in all of the jobs that he does (see picture)!
While BJ is at work detail, I am usually at home taking care of our kids, cleaning, cooking, doing homework, or napping! But, recently, I was asked to take this training to become a Homeschool Coordinator overseas. Many parents are going to homeschooling, because they don’t want to send their children to boarding schools. Many of the moms don’t have a teaching background, and so this is where I will enter! My role will be to assist and encourage moms that are having a difficult time managing all of this. I might encourage them, inform them about different curriculum, or give them ideas that might help their children. I am actually really excited about this because I will get to use my teaching degree and my gift to encourage! I’m not exactly sure how this will look overseas, but I am going through training every Monday and loving being back into curriculum and “teacher talk”!
Olivia has been doing really well in the toddler class! She is really learning a lot about Adam & Eve and Noah’s Ark. At lunch, we ask her what she learned at school today and this is what she said yesterday: “Noah build a big boat and listened to God. The other guys were bad.” We asked her which guys, the guys who made fun of Noah? And she said “yeah!” So sweet! She gets daily reports and this weeks have said “went potty in the toilet, listened and sat still during bible lesson, and obeyed her teacher!” We are so proud of her!
Sophie also has been taking “big class” well! Some may not know this, but the nursery is closed this semester because of lack of help. So all the babies under a year old have to come to class with mom and dad. You might see how this could be a HUGE distraction, but Sophie girl has made the change rather easy. We set up a pack and play and she sleeps through most of our classes. She wakes up for the last 30 minutes to an hour and crawls around our class! When she is awake, she is a busy bee! She is crawling everywhere, pulling up on EVERYTHING, and cruising around! Oh, and tries to eat everything on the floor. I definitely feel like a mom at school telling everyone to pick up their trash and crumbs! haha.
Like we always say, it may be a crazy life…but it’s our life!
