For the past month we have been going to the “Dobu village” 2-3 times a week, where we get to put all of our training into practice! \u00a0The “Dobu village” is a simulation where our teachers are dressed as tribal people and we\u00a0are the missionary team who has just moved into their tribal village. \u00a0We have been invited to “live” among them in order to learn their language and teach them God’s talk. \u00a0When we go down to the Dobu village each day, we get to talk to different tribal people, then we get to spend time learning language with our new friend, Kinosi. \u00a0He has taught us a lot of his language over the past month, and now we are learning a lot about his worldview–how he views his family and other people, how he thinks, how he reasons, and what makes him do the things he does everyday. \u00a0Also, the time spent learning language and culture is great for building relationships–because would you rather hear about God from a friend or a stranger? \u00a0We are learning that we have to earn people’s trust before we give them “God’s talk.” \u00a0This has been such a learning experience! \u00a0And it is amazing to think that in just a couple of years we could be living in a village like this in Papua New Guinea!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
