{"id":592,"date":"2014-02-27T05:05:37","date_gmt":"2014-02-27T11:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bj-sanders\/?p=592"},"modified":"2014-02-27T05:05:37","modified_gmt":"2014-02-27T11:05:37","slug":"sittin-waitin-wishin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bj-sanders\/2014\/02\/27\/sittin-waitin-wishin\/","title":{"rendered":"Sittin&#8217;, Waitin&#8217;, Wishin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some of you might know that Jack Johnson song!\u00a0 It\u2019s playing through my head as I am waiting for my language helper to come!\u00a0 Papua New Guinea people run on their own time!\u00a0 Not wrong\u2026just different!<\/p>\n<p>My language helper told me that she would come Monday at 1, to help me learn tok pisin (the national language).\u00a0 One o\u2019clock rolls around, we just put the kids to nap and I am ready.\u00a0 30 minutes go by\u2026No language helper.\u00a0 BJ told me that when they say 1:00, they mean anywhere between 1:00 and 1:59\u2026makes sense!\u00a0 I should also mention that they don\u2019t wear clocks\/watches.\u00a0 They simply know what time it is by the sun!\u00a0 I have to have them teach me that!\u00a0 Anyways, I\u2019m still waiting at 3:00 and I decide to continue on with my day.\u00a0 We have a guy from the leadership coming to tell us more about the tribe that he was in and, how his family did ministry.\u00a0 So I start cooking for him.\u00a0 Lo and behold, at about 5:00, my language helper comes!\u00a0 Ahhh!\u00a0 She did realize that she forgot, so she wanted to come say sorry.\u00a0 I am in the middle of cooking for the leadership guy, and it would be rude if I don\u2019t drop everything and talk to her.\u00a0 She ended up staying until the guy came, and I had to tell him sorry for not having dinner ready!\u00a0 He totally understood!<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday rolls around and my language helper is supposed to come at 1 again. I went to sit down at the gate and wait for her.\u00a0 The song starts running through my head again!\u00a0 At about 1:30, I decided to go back home and go on with my routine\u2026it was BJ\u2019s birthday and I had a lot to do!\u00a0 She ended up not showing at all.\u00a0 I really like her a lot, but I might need to find a new language helper!<\/p>\n<p>Okay\u2026scratch that\u2026guess who just showed up (Thursday)?!\u00a0 Rosemary (my language helper!)
