{"id":733,"date":"2014-07-13T20:00:13","date_gmt":"2014-07-14T02:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bj-sanders\/?p=733"},"modified":"2014-07-12T04:21:03","modified_gmt":"2014-07-12T10:21:03","slug":"day-7-of-21-no-more-but-thank-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bj-sanders\/2014\/07\/13\/day-7-of-21-no-more-but-thank-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 7 of 21: No more&#8230;but thank you!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I think I\u2019ve told you before, that the staple food here is sweet potatoes and greens (not lettuce, more like grass or leaves!)\u00a0 The people here live off of this.\u00a0 They eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (if they eat 3 meals, most don\u2019t), and they even eat it for special events!!<\/p>\n<p>The people are so nice here!\u00a0 They bring us food every day!\u00a0 Most of the time it\u2019s kids, but adults do it too!\u00a0 I think they think since we don\u2019t have gardens, we don\u2019t have any food!\u00a0 I\u2019m actually glad that they didn\u2019t see the HUGE airplane bring in all of our food!\u00a0 But everyday, we get at least 2 bundles of \u201cgrass\u2026I mean greens\u201d, TONS of oranges (not the same as you eat!), huge pumpkins, and sweet potatoes!\u00a0 How do I tell them\u2026\u201dPlease don\u2019t waste your food on me!\u201d \u00a0Or\u00a0 \u201cThanks but no thanks!\u201d\u00a0 Haha.<\/p>\n<p>And don\u2019t even try to throw it away!\u00a0 They will see it in your trash pile and get offended!\u00a0 So here\u2019s what I do, I give it to the kids that come and see me!\u00a0 Of course, I have to remember what they gave me, and give them the other food!\u00a0 I also have a friend (also she\u2019s a believer) that knows I\u2019m not crazy about kumu (greens), so I will secretly give them to her and she will feed it to her family\u2026or pig!\u00a0 The last resort is I have Olivia or Sophie take it over to the Kathy and Andrew (the other missionary\u2019s) house\u2026 and I know they don\u2019t want it, but how can they resist our cute kids!!<\/p>\n<p>#thankfulforairplanes #gettingcreative<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I think I\u2019ve told you before, that the staple food here is sweet potatoes and greens (not lettuce, more like grass or leaves!)\u00a0 The people here live off of this.\u00a0 They eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (if they eat 3 meals, most don\u2019t), and they even eat it for special events!!
