12 of 21: What to believe

“There is a way that seems right to man, but in the end leads to death.” (Proverbs 14:12)

Yesterday, I met with some of the women believers, and we were talking about one of the neighboring tribes. First, I need to tell you that this is the tribe that we are pursuing! I haven’t talked much about it, because we don’t want to say we are going there and then not. But this tribe is surrounded by tribes (like the one I’m in) that have the gospel, but the languages are different enough where they need a different translation. They can actually communicate with this tribe in the national language, but not at a level where they understand deep things…just basic.

So the women believers and I were talking about some of the beliefs in this tribe. When they are sick, they automatically refer to sorcery. Their dad must have spoken some secret words that made his daughter sick. So the daughter must wash in the river every day and she will feel better. She also must do other things to make her better. The daughter can even take her dad to court for making her sick.

So this morning, the Lord gave me this verse, “There is a way that seems right to man, but in the end leads to death.” This tribe (Wantakia) has no idea about truth. So they do everything that seems right to them…which in the end will lead to death. They need the Gospel so badly. We are so burdened for them…and they have actually been coming to us and asking us to come live in their tribe.

PLEASE be praying for us as we pursue this tribe. Pray for direction. They want the truth badly. The language is SUPER hard. God made this language! But we still want to be certain! So pray for us as we survey this area in the next couple of months!

<div
