Back in Alabama! We arrived home safely in late June, arriving in Houston and spending a few days with family in TX and in LA before getting back to AL in time for the 4th of July which we spent very quietly with our Alabama family. Truth be told, both of us were quite worn out! In the past 9 months, we have made two trips to the Philippines, which included 6 months of intense work on the translation mainly for Bob and the Kalanguya translation team on site and the other 3 months by teleconferencing. So in July, Bob and I were ready for a break – and as August gets started, we are feeling more rested with our heads clearing and ready to move on!
Unfortunately, for our team in the Philippines, the work has not stopped and we’d ask you to continue to pray for them as they proofread the text that has now been typeset and make sure it is ready to hand it over to the printer. We were informed before we left the Philippines that we should expect the actual printing process to take approximately 6 months. That’s because other Scripture printing projects are already in the pipeline at the printers and the Kalanguya Bible will take its turn in the process. So we wait…….patiently! In the meantime, the Kalanguya Translation team keeps in contact with Bob as they have questions about any changes they want to make.
Return to the Philippines In light of the timeline that has been given us for the Kalanguya Bibles to be off the press, we are planning on a February 2020 trip back to the Philippines for a Dedication and Thanksgiving service for the Kalanguya Bible.
What a time of rejoicing that will be when we can…….
- place that Bible into the hands of the Kalanguya believers
- recognize the folks who have worked with us through the years on the translation of Scripture
- thank God together with the Kalanguya believers for His grace, His enabling, His wisdom that made it all possible.
And lest you think Bob and the Team are finished with their work, these commentaries, songbook and Children’s Bible Storybook still need to be updated and reprinted based on the revised Scripture text!
Continue to pray for the Translation Team, the Board of CFM as they direct that work that is so important for our Kalanguya college youth, for the elders and teachers in the 30+ Kalanguya churches, for the women’s and children’s ministries. We give God the glory for all He has done among the Kalanguya people!
P R A I S E
Funds for the Printing of the Kalanguya Bible have continued to come in and we are SO ENCOURAGED with how God has provided through His people! The total that has been raised at this point is $104,000! Our target goal is $150,000 to cover all the expenses related to this translation project!! We are grateful and thank our loving friends and supporters for how they’ve responded to God’s prompting in their hearts and minds to support this worthy project!
