During that trip a total of 3,378 verses of Scripture were checked and approved for printing in those four languages.<\/p>\n<p>The first leg of his trip was in a country he had never visited before, and although the people and surroundings didn\u2019t look much different than where we lived for so many years, the language and the script were completely different, making communication quite a challenge. The next check on the schedule was the final 1,000+ verses necessary to complete the New Testament for that particular language group. As you can imagine there was some celebrating taking place as they checked the last paragraph of the last epistle!\u00a0 In fact, they celebrated with pizza and ice cream, treats that few of the native speakers were very familiar with \u2013 but they definitely enjoyed them nonetheless!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_2675-001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-191 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_2675-001-600x346.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2675-001\" width=\"600\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_2675-001-600x346.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_2675-001-300x173.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_2675-001-768x442.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_2675-001.jpg 880w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Stop #2 &#8211; Completing the New Testament!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>At the third location, it was very encouraging to see several high school and college aged students taking part in the consultant check, helping to verify that the translation of one gospel and three epistles for their language group was both accurate and understandable. In the past there was a relatively small number of people who helped the translator with this part of the translation process, so we are hopeful that some of these younger people who expressed enthusiasm for hearing the Scriptures in their own language will become \u2018regulars.\u2019 That would not only help them to mature in their faith, but also help the translation process go quite a bit faster.\u00a0 We checked nearly 1,400 verses for the believers of that church.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_0026.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-192 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_0026-600x285.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0026\" width=\"600\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_0026-600x285.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_0026-300x142.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_0026-768x364.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/IMG_0026.jpg 913w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Stop #3 &#8211;\u00a0<\/em><em>Growing interest in God&#8217;s Word<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Then on the fourth stop, a missionary couple who are just starting into the translation phase of their ministry had their first translation check. We covered the three Old Testament books of Ruth, Esther, and Jonah. That particular people group only has a handful of believers, who just heard the Gospel for the first time this past year. But despite the fact that the three native speakers who were helping us were not yet believers, they seemed to really enjoy hearing those stories \u2013 and undoubtedly they grew in their understanding of how God shows his love and compassion both to his own people and to all the world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/P-945-crop-edit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-193 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/P-945-crop-edit.jpg\" alt=\"P (945) crop edit\" width=\"550\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/P-945-crop-edit.jpg 550w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/bob-clark\/files\/2016\/05\/P-945-crop-edit-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Stop #4 &#8211;\u00a0<\/em><em>Future brothers and sisters in Christ?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our nephew Alan McDole, whose parents Paul &amp; Tina also serve with NTM in the Asia-Pacific region, is staying with us until he goes to New Tribes Bible Institute in August.
