Ha! We wish it was that simple. No, this grammar class is a little more challenging. We are studying the grammar of tribal languages that we don’t know! Actually, this class is really fun to me. I’m afraid for Brent, it feels more like Missionary Technology felt for me (thank God for gifting us in different areas)! We are basically given a several sheets of paper everyday with 10-15 phrases from another language. Given these examples, we can determine different grammatical elements of the language like how noun and verb phrases are formed, how nouns (and/or verbs) indicate number, gender, possession, etc. Once we determine these elements we are taught to chart them and list them so that someone else can see how the language works. It’s great – nothing like a brain puzzle to make you feel alive =).
We have also just begun our Field Fair where reps from several of our fields come and present their needs. We got to meet with both the rep for the PNG field and a guy from NTMA (New Tribes Mission Aviation) who came up from AZ where we will be heading in August. It was awesome to hear more about the position for a Medevac pilot in New Guinea and know that the Lord has prepared Brent for this position. We hope that within the next two years we can be filling that need! Pray that the Lord would continue to guide our steps and make our path straight before us!
