Brent had an amazing opportunity to preach in front of our home church last Sunday. Who’d have thought that would ever happen?! We sure didn’t. We had a couple classes at the training center that taught us to prepare sermons and practice delivering them, but we had no clue that an opportunity to utilize that training would come so quickly after arriving home. But for it being the first time he’s ever done anything like this, I have to say (as his proud wife) that he did a fantastic job! He taught from the book of Jonah and in a very clever way tied in the current needs in the world for people being willing to go out, just like Jonah did, and preach God’s Word to those who have never had the chance to hear it. Several people from our church expressed amazement at learning how many people in the world (still 2500 people groups) do not have access to God’s Word. We hope that amazement develops into a deep conviction to be a part of getting the gospel out to those people – I know that’s what keeps us plugging along on our journey.
On a “funner” note – we took our kids to the beach for the FIRST time today! Kimi was not all that impressed, in fact, she mostly just did what she does at home – sit around, smile, and
make noise. But Beau had a great time. Once he got used to the water, he was running all around and splashing and laughing. I tell you what, very little brings me as much joy as watching my son enjoy life. It is a blessing to realize that in the same way my kids’ joy brings a smile to my face, my joy brings a smile to our Father’s face. I’ve only begun to truly understand the depth of His love for me once I had kids and it’s incredible!
