Two More Weeks-One to Go!

December 15, 2006 by Brian and Bailey Pruett

Today I just received news that money has come in for another 3 Kodiak airplane deposits! This brings the Kodiak count to 13 of the 14 needed by New Tribes Mission. In October, I had an opportunity to speak at my home church about the Kodiak project, and how God was using normal people from all walks of life to meet the needs of tribal people around the world. It is amazing how many people God has chosen to use. Everyone from the guy shooting rivets on the assembly line, to the receptionist taking phone calls, to the engineers, to the people who can’t do those things, but can give. It is amazing.
At the time when I spoke, I believe there were only six airplanes which had deposits on them. Since that time there have been seven purchased at a price of only $375,000. Due to a matching fund, and Quest Aircraft company offering the airplanes at cost, that is $1 million below the retail price! So one could say that God has already provided 17.8 Million dollars toward this project.

So why would God wait until nearly the end of the year to start providing? Did God have to go and earn the money, so that He could provide? No way! That is the amazing part isn’t it? Not only does God have the ability to provide, but He has the patience to do so in a way that teaches us to be dependent on Him, and to trust Him. Bailey and I have some big steps to take in the very near future, and no doubt financial concerns are at the top of our list of barriers. Why is that? Could it be that we don’t fully understand the purposes that God has for us?

God is longing for people to know Him in all His glory, and we feel He has led us to be a part of declaring that where it has never been declared. No doubt this is a project God is excited about! That is only the point of the entire Bible, and the life of the church. So why would Bailey and I worry about our financial needs in a project we know God is behind? I think we have chosen to worry rather than trust.

Stories like the Kodiak are such a huge encouragement and reminder to us that God is able, and provides not just on His schedule, but His schedule is planned for our benefit. Pray for us, that we would choose to trust, and boldly continue where God has called us. “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”  -2 Timothy 1:7
