This past weekend we were invited to share at Cornerstone Community Church in Atascadero, CA. We came with a bit of anxiety because we didn’t know anyone in the church body and were not sure what to expect. We knew many people were praying for us, and we trusted that God would help us connect with people in spite of our lack of familiarity.
What we found was that from the moment we walked in the door, the church was inviting and very interested in what God was doing in our lives. It was so encouraging to be a part of a body of believers who are so excited about missions and genuinely wanted to learn how to take part in God’s project of reaching the nations.
We were even approached by several of their youth who had a list of questions they were eager to ask about how they might get started with pursuing missions as a career. We were so encouraged by them that we weren’t quite ready to leave! What a contrast from the anxiety we felt when we came!
God did amazing things and continues to show us that He had us there for reasons far beyond the ones we could imagine. We are so grateful to those who covered this event in prayer, and to our God who never ceases to amaze us with His skillfully woven plans. This weekend was just another step of growth in our ability to trust God to take care of us. It seems to us this process of partnership development might be more about us learning to trust than about anything else.
