While we have been pursuing and heading in the direction of the Philippines for quite some time now, we have been waiting for Brian to be evaluated from a technical standpoint on his flying and maintenance skills. This has been our main reason for being here in Arizona – for Brian to fly with the NTMA leadership and gain proficiency in flying into very difficult airstrips.
After about 3 months of training and evaluation, the leadership here has decided that we would be a good addition to the team and has officially assigned us to the Philippine field.
They have contacted the leadership of New Tribes Mission as a whole as well as the Philippine field leadership to notify them of our plans to arrive in late July or early August.
This is very exciting for us as it means that we are free to correspond with the team in the Philippines and begin to make plans for our arrival. (i.e. passports, shots, shipping our things…)
This does not mean that we are finished with our time here in Arizona. Brian is in the process of doing his maintenance training which will be finished around mid to late March. With what they have already seen in Brian, they don’t anticipate any reason to doubt we would be a good fit in the difficult aviation environment of the Philippines.
We feel we have been on this road for a long time now and finally, the beginning of our time overseas is in full view. Please continue to pray with us as we begin to make plans for our departure from the US and our arrival in the Philippines. Also, please pray for our time here as it is just as important to stay focused and learn as much as we can before we go. Pray that our hearts and minds would not check out prematurely, but focus on each day as an opportunity to serve the Lord by giving everything the best we’ve got.
Thank you all so much for following along with us and for being such invaluable partners for so long.
