No, we didn’t have the baby yet…but we did get a dog! Her name is Maggie – a two-month old, black lab – and she’s precious! If you know Brian and I at all, you would know how funny it is that we have a dog…and that we actually like her. We don’t have a clue what to do but we are excited to have her!
We decided that we needed to get a dog for a few reasons. First, and most importantly I think, we need a good guard dog. I know, I know, labs are about the sweetest dogs you can find – that was one reason we wanted a lab. But also labs are big and Maggie is black – both of which are terrifying traits to the people here. It doesn’t matter how nice the dog – if she’s big and black she’s very scary and they won’t come near her! So, she’s a guard dog. Secondly, Maycie LOVES the dog we are “borrowing” until his owners return from furlough in August. So come August we’ll be dogless again and we thought it would be fun for Maycie and soon-to-arrive baby boy to have a dog of their own.
