Best Trip Ever

September 7, 2012 by Brian and Bailey Pruett

Our faces say it all. It was an enjoyable trip. Well, as enjoyable as a trip like this can be.

We arrived back in the Philippines last Saturday and had an amazing trip. We expressed to many of our prayer partners our dread for the flight and asked them to pray specifically for the trip. Here are a few of the highlights that just go to show how much God cares for us even on the small details.

  • We were given the entire center bulkhead section with a baby basinet for Cole AND the entire adjacent row extending all the way to the window. This allowed Maycie and Dylan to lay down and sleep across two seats and Cole could sleep in a bed. We only paid for 4 seats and were given the 6 best seats in the economy cabin.
  • On the shorter flight we were given two rows to ourselves and again, the kids could lay down.
  • During the flight Cole never cried. Not once. Maycie was an angel and Dylan struggled but held it together nicely.
  • The flight was delayed leaving Los Angeles so the airline sped it up a little and left an hour late and arrived half an hour early. This made the flight substantially shorter.
  • In Manila we didn’t wait in line at customs, but were allowed through with a smile from the customs agent.
  • In Baggage claim where Brian dreaded things would be awful, we started to get two luggage carts and someone saw what we were doing and ran across the airport and got a giant cart for us. All our bags came out early on the conveyor belt and were undamaged. It was just awesome.
  • When we went to get our taxi there was no line and a big van in cue just for the five of us, a large stroller, car seat, 8 checked bags and 5 carry-on bags.

Please join us in praising the Lord for this unbelievably easy trip. The fact that we can use the word “easy” is a real testimony to God’s care for us. After all, we arrived at our Manila accommodations 29 hours after we started the trip from Bailey’s parents’ house in CA. Now we’re trying to help the kids combat jet lag and Brian has been working on getting his Philippine pilot’s license reissued. It will still be a couple of weeks before we are able to return to our home.

That is a huge praise. I’m amazed too when God answers prayer above and beyond my expectations. Thanks for sharing this!
