That’s right. We came as a family of three when Maycie was just 4 months old and we’re returning with a 3 1/2 year old, a 1 1/2 year old and another one in the hangar due to arrive in April. We are so excited about a third Pruett to add to the clan and to be at home for the first time when one of our kids is born – Maycie was born in Arizona during our flight training and Dylan in the province in Mindanao.
While we are extremely excited at the thought of having another little Pruett running around we also realized that we can’t fit three car seats across the back seat of a normal vehicle along with all the regular kid paraphernalia required for long road trips. We’re entering into the minivan class-oh no! We are now looking for a Toyota or Honda minivan when we get home and I’m looking at features like hooks to hang grocery bags, holders for bottled water, and lots and lots of kid safety features. It’s a far cry from the diff locks, mud tires, and high powered headlights that we’ve needed in a vehicle here in the mountains of the Philippines.
What have I become?! I’ll tell you. I’ve become a proud father and with it comes sacrifices that I once thought were pretty big. In the end, driving a minivan is a wonderful thing because it means we get to have another child to call our own. I can also see that having normal tires on it and no more roar of the turbo diesel engine means we can hear what is going on in the back seat. On second thought, I’m not actually sure that that’s a blessing. No matter how that one works out, we’re absolutely delighted to meet our third child!

Congratulations you guys! You’re going to be a busy mom and dad.
I’m in Cairns Australia as I write this, helping our daughter with 3 of the 4 little boys they now have. Know what you mean about the vehicle situation and all the car seats! Going anywhere is a major event! The other day we went grocery shopping. The baby was crying to be fed, the 2 yr old was having a stubborn streak and refusing to cooperate, and the 5 yr old had to go to the bathroom. . .all at the same time! But, I love every minute of it. . .they’re all so precious!

We’re looking forward to seeing you guys as well. I do hate that minivans are so incredibly practical and make a lot of sense… I’m sure we’ll love it. Actually, secretly, I’m looking forward to driving something comfortable and quiet. Out of necessity we drive 4x4s here on some of the worst roads in the country. It will be nice to not have the kids’ heads banging on the windows from the bumps!

Praise the Lord! Another Pruett! We will be praying for you. Listening to your mini van story is sweet…we said, ” A mini van? Oh, no…we won’t have one of those.” And here we are with one and LOVE it (at least Mom does), so welcome to the mini van club! We look forward to seeing you all when you arrive home.

I remember not too long ago I was stopped behind a Hummer at a stop light in Missouri with Joel Davis and Zach Keller in the car. I didn’t have any kids yet but they did. They weren’t impressed with the size of the tires or the lift kit on it, they noticed that they could probably fit three car seats across the back. I mocked them, but now I have a deeper understanding of where they were at. I’ll probably still mock them though. The old “Burban” is indeed a great family cruiser. It’s just too bad they are gasoline junkies.

Splendid! We found the Chevy Suburban to be the ultimate family off-road vehicle. Not a friend to good gas mileage though.
We’re excited for you!

So happy for you guys. Can’t wait to see you all.
