In September we will fill in for our pilot, Josh, and his wife, Candy, who are returning to the States until January. The best way we could come up with to make it work is for Brian to take a 25-day trip back to the Philippines before September to get things in order. If you’ve ever wondered what kind of an itinerary Brian has when he travels, below is a glimpse of what he’ll be doing and some ideas for how you can be praying. This itinerary means that Brian will be in a vehicle as the pilot, driver or passenger for over 130 hours in 25 days. Bailey and the kids will remain with family in CA. This is a real blessing that she can be surrounded by support while Brian is away.

Arrive in Philippines after ~40 hrs travel

Go to Civil Aviation Authority offices and renew aviation medical certificate

Schedule a check-ride and complete paperwork for Philippine pilot license renewal

Meeting with field leadership

Pack up tools and other household items that we will need while we live on Palawan

Fly the airplane to get recurrent and operationally ready to fly again

Meetings with leaders about future strategies

Meet with teammates, Joel and Missy, to test a new financial software system for NTMA.

Setup a new flight tracking system for the airplane with Joel

Do necessary repairs and maintenance on our vehicles so that they are ready for the next 6 months.

Go to the harbor and ship our belongings to our temporary home

Meet with Josh and Candy regarding finances

Meet with Josh and Candy regarding the ongoing airstrip project that is the result of the super typhoon Haiyan relief effort.

Setup a new flight tracking system for the airplane with Josh

Fly with Josh into each airstrip on Palawan for a checkout – during the heart of rainy season so weather will be predictably unpredictable.

Take a check-ride with a Philippine check-pilot for pilot license renewal.

Learn how and where Josh does basic things like paying bills, buying fuel, working with the supply buyer and hangar maintenance

Travel to Manila, again.

Meeting with field leadership

Fly back to California (~40 hours travel time)

Brian is preparing to return to the Philippines, alone.
