On Tuesday we traveled with 6 other people and 2 dogs down the twisty, curvy, mountainside to the old boarding school, or “finca” as they call it, that the mission had. It is no longer the MK boarding school, but we were able to go for a visit. (We even stayed in the house that Brion’s grandparents lived in at one point.) It was a beautiful campus and the weather was amazing. We actually got to wear shorts and tanks for the first time since we have been in Colombia. It was nice to have two days of “summer” and even though it is rainy season (we never actually saw the sun) it was still warm and beautiful. Pictures just don’t do the place justice. Eli loved splashing in puddles, running around outside all day and I realized I am going to need a lot more band-aides and neosporine before we move out of Bogota! The poor boy scraped himself more than 10 times in 2 days, but his response was normally, “I ok”.
Living in Bogota is nice and we know that we will have a great opportunity to serve in a church here, but visiting a more jungle-esc area made us very excited for where God will put us in the future. Of course there are things like big bugs and biting bugs that we will have to get used to, but our eyes were opened up to how beautiful the country of Colombia truly is. I had a really rough week last week and so it was nice to relocate for a bit, refresh my perspective and see more of God’s beautiful creation. We have our first tutor style Spanish lesson on Monday and I cannot wait to dive in! We have learned a lot just from living here so far, but I am excited to have a bit more classroom style teaching
