Life finally felt like it took off! After many months of study in the house due to the pandemic and the city being on lock-down, churches started to slowly open back up, our friend circle began to expand and our relationships with them deepened. The city was in YELLOW (one step away to everything being open again!)
We wanted to share with you some of the amazing opportunities God has given us with our friends!
BIBLE STUDY 1: We have really enjoyed a bi-weekly bible study with our new friends here in Spanish. Caleb and another friend have been co-leading it and we have been working our way through the Gospel of John. I, Emily, have enjoyed learning some new worship songs in Spanish and playing with a friend during the Bible study too. We praise God for these times of fellowship!! They have been such a relief and breath of fresh air after having been cooped-up for almost half a year! THANK YOU for holding us up in prayer!! We would not have been able to endure on our own and we praise God for his goodness!!
BIBLE STUDY 2: Caleb has also had an AMAZING opportunity to lead a smaller Bible study with a couple–one is not yet a believer but is eager to learn about who our God is! Please pray for him!
LANGUAGE SESSIONS: Our language sessions now consist largely in conversations. For Caleb, he enjoys meeting with a close friend at a coffee shop once a week to share about challenges and what God has been teaching them and to pray for each other. Other sessions are more focused on areas where we have holes in our Spanish. We gather many recordings to process at home and practice! We love learning language with friends!
CHURCH: Going to church has been a huge blessing too! Although there have been many restrictions, our church has been able to creatively find ways to meet together. We have enjoyed attending in recent weeks and being fed by God’s Word and the fellowship of believers.
VISITS FROM FRIENDS: We have enjoyed visits from 2 families who we know from Washington! It is such an encouragement to see people and show our friends and family this new world we live in in Mexico.
NEWS CONCERNING COVID: Chihuahua has returned to RED again…This means we are back to the full fledged lock-down. It is hard to return to this stage again after finally feeling like we have a life and friends and a church. Please pray for the people of this state. It is very hard for everyone. Many people are left without work yet again with no way to provide for their families. It is very sad. The hospitals here are chuck-full of patients with COVID and it is for this reason that the state went back to red. We pray this season of red does not last as long as the previous one. We ask you would pray with us too!
Our hope is not in this world, but in the God of this world! We pray each of you would stay encouraged in the Lord and look to Him for your source of hope.
