Many of you know that we were planning on going back to the U.S. to take a maternity leave furlough in order to be close to family for the later part of the pregnancy and the delivery of the twins. We had the original plan of leaving in December to head back home for the Holidays and then wait for the little ones to arrive. We are now planning to leave November 2nd and spend a couple weeks in Missouri with my family (Caleb). And then make the long drive to Washington…
Due to Mexico being on lock down again we really have had to cease almost all language learning activities as we could get fined by the authorities for gathering in homes or driving more than two people in a car. All of our language learning activities would have to be done online and we can do that from anywhere, including back home.
Our goals for our time back home are to continue working on learning Spanish, enjoy being with family, and make sure Emily gets the rest and nutrients she needs in order to have a healthy pregnancy and delivery. We would love your continued prayer and support these next weeks as we transition off the field for a maternity leave/ COVID furlough. Our leadership here in Mexico is supportive of our decision to come home early especially in light of Mexico being shut down again.
We wanted to clarify and make sure that everyone understands that we fully intend on continuing our missionary career here in Mexico after we have the twins. (Hopefully this COVID pandemic will be on the decline by that time!)
Thank you for sticking with us through this very interesting and challenging time. We know that our hope is not in this world, because we are citizens of heaven.
Philippians 3:20 “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ”
In Christ’s love,
The Arnold family
