Our dear family and friends,
We wish you a belated Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year season. Like you, we look forward to a new year with hope because of our Savior who came to redeem us and made it possible for us to walk in confidence in Him and His Word.
The year 2016 has been one of change for us. As Calvin has had to face the progression of Parkinson’s disease, we had to come to a decision that it was best that he ask for retirement status from New Tribes Mission. Of course, the decision was a hard one to make; however, our vision for the translation work will continue, and Calvin can still work with his team as his health permits.
We are very grateful for all of you who have prayed for us and cared for us throughout these years. Please continue to pray with us particularly for the work of New Tribes Mission in Brazil. The mission there continues to develop the existing indigenous works and is vigilantly endeavoring to open new works as the Lord provides laborers. In this year, Calvin sent the recently corrected digital lessons to a missionary working in a new people group. The Gospel has been presented and now there are new believers who will need the
lessons. The missionaries will be using these updated lessons to teach the new believers from Genesis through Revelation.
Here in Knoxville, we have the privilege of having two of our children and eight of our grandchildren living here also. In these last years as Calvin has worked mainly with the computer, I have continued to teach in the Christian high school. We are also blessed with friends from the different churches we have gotten to know. Having these “connections” to family, friends, and co-workers is so important, and we are thankful for each one.
Again, we thank the Lord for you, and we wish for you a blessed New Year.
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Gwen and Calvin Taylor
