Thank you for praying for me in June.
Arriving in São Paulo I flew north to where my brother Hudson and his wife work with the Pataxó tribal people.
Fifteen hu ndred and 12 years ago a Portuguese sailor discovered Brazil and a cross was placed there on the beach (pictured above). It is a stainless steel one now. Besides serving the Lord in seeing churches established the Taylors have also learned how to communicate with the deaf children in this large tribe.
Marcos and Aline live with them in their home a few miles from the cross. One of the churches is just two blocks from the cross. The night I spoke there one of the Pataxó pastors was invited by his family to see if he could save a marriage. After sharing the Gospel with the 8 siblings and their spouses he gave counsel to the couple. One of his brothers commented that they never imagined that he would be giving counsel about marriage.
Our translation team received a challenge to pass on these many books that we are doing. The Pataxó pastors and NTM of Brazil missionaries are in need of more lessons. Two days ago Hudson took some books to the largest village of about 2000 Pataxó. A father showed me what he had and what he needs to teach his family. Once again we will share some pictures to help you pray for our team.
Robson and Emília Abreu– They are reps for New Tribes of Brazil. Emília has had to do the correction work because Simone and her husband Fábio have resigned from our team due to so much work establishing a new church.
Rodney and Rute Schuring– They work in the building department of the mission and Rute has begun translating. She is doing a good job.
Rejaneide Monteiro– Besides caring for the mission’s health department she does the final corrections on documents ready to publish. She will check Volume 1 these days.
Thiago and Letícia Ishy– They are in their last year of training but since the school is moving 19 hours north, they will have a semester to help us with translations and formatting. Praise the Lord.
Pércio and Tânia Coutinho– They both teach at Peniel Bible Institute. Pércio is
the pastor of a local Bible Baptist church. He also is one of the leaders of NTM of Brazil and keeps our team coordinated.
Calvin and Gwen Taylor– We are responsible to make sure that the translations are done correctly so as to represent the author’s desire. I spend every day correcting and checking the translations with the original books.
My sweet Gwen stayed home this time. She is fine. Besides visiting Hudson and Resa I was able to spend time with my mom and my two sisters, Carleen and Beth. They are all doing well.
Thank you for partnering with us before our Lord’s throne. He is attentive and is answering.
